This spring, the Accelerator Academy Program delivered powerful results in supporting student success in CHM 2210: Organic Chemistry I. As part of a four-term academic recovery pilot funded by the University Innovation Alliance (UIA) and coordinated by the Center for Higher Education Innovation in partnership with the Student Academic Resource Center (SARC) and the Department of Chemistry, Accelerator Academy provided extended Supplemental Instruction sessions, one-on-one peer consultations, and financial incentives to students retaking the course.

After expanding access and outreach in Spring 2025, the program served 99 students—over five times the number from previous terms. Students who fully participated passed CHM 2210 at a rate of 76.7%, compared to 35.6% of non-participants, and were significantly more likely to re-enroll for the next term. Each additional SI session was linked to a 30% higher likelihood of earning a better grade. Survey responses also reflected high satisfaction and personal growth, with many students citing renewed confidence, motivation, and a sense of belonging.

The Accelerator Academy pilot has shown that combining academic support with financial recognition creates meaningful impact. With continued refinement and support, it offers a scalable model for student success in high-risk STEM courses.
